About Genevieve Simperingham

Genevieve is a Psychosynthesis counsellor certified parenting instructor, international speaker, and founder of The Peaceful Parent Institute (PPI). PPI was established from the recognition of the pattern that the emotional and relational difficulties she saw in her counselling practice stemmed back to their early childhood relationship patterns.

For more than 30 years, Genevieve has worked with thousands of parents, teachers, and professionals through one-on-one coaching, counselling, workshops, seminars and 3 - 5 day residential personal development retreats.

Genevieve's primary focus is making attachment based parenting as achievable and accessible as possible. Parents deserve clear help because it doesn't have to be as hard as it so often is.

Areas of practice

Peaceful Parenting specialist. Genevieve has extensively studied attachment science, neuroscience, child development, trauma recovery, nonviolent communication, meditation and mindfulness practices, generational healing and somatic healing practices. Peaceful parenting is based on the recognition that to bring about long lasting positive change, parents and teachers need to gain a better understanding of what the child needs for their mental and emotional growth and development. Most of us have been conditioned to view and judge the behaviour, yet relationships are strengthened when the parent/ teacher can view challenging behaviours to be symptomatic of underlying feelings and emotional needs. This wider and deeper view tends to lead to a greater motivation by the adult to learn the communication approaches which result in the adult-child relationship not just being maintained, but indeed strengthened as the challenges, the big and the small, are faced and resolved.

Experience & qualifications

Qualified Psychosynthesis Counsellor. Genevieve has trained under, worked with and drawn from some of the world's leading voices in the fields of attachment based parenting, including Dr Aletha Solter (psychologist, author of 6t parenting books and founder of the Aware Parenting Institute), author and psychologist Robin Grille, trauma specialist, psychologist and author Heather Forbes and developmental psychologist and author Dr Gordon Neufeld.
